BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's tennis team, fresh off their victory in the Northeast Regional at Middlebury, will travel to compete in the NCAA Quarterfinals this Friday at Santa Cruz, California. The Polar Bears are currently 17-2, the best ever record in school history, and will face off against Emory College (16-2) in the National Quarterfinals on May 17.
The winner of that match will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, May 18 and the final two will play on Sunday, May 19 for the NCAA Division III Championship. The quarterfinal matchups are as follows:
Williams (16-1) vs. Kalamazoo (17-10)
UC Santa Cruz (11-8) vs. Washington (Md.) (17-3)
Bowdoin (17-2) vs. Emory (16-4)
Trinity (Texas) (12-11) vs. Gustavus Adolphus (28-3)
In individual news, the Polar Bears also had qualifiers in both the men's and women's tournament. Colin Joyner qualified as an individual competitor in the men's tournament, and he will also team with doubles partner August Felker in the doubles tournament. The men's singles and doubles competition will be held in Santa Cruz as well, and will be played on May 20-22.
The women's team also had individual qualifiers for the NCAA Championships. Singles players Alexis Bawden and Paulette Hricko both qualified for the individual championship to be played at Sweet Briar College in Sweet Briar, Virginia on May 20-22.
