Trenkle Named ECAC New England Player of the Year

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College's sophomore guard Lora Trenkle has earned ECAC New England Women's Basketball Player of the Year honors it was announced today. Trenkle led her squad to the third round of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship. The Polar Bears fell to St. Lawrence, 56-41 at Springfield College on March 9, finishing their season with a 25-2 record.

Trenkle earned NESCAC Player of the Year honors by averaging 15.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.4 steals per game this season. Her teammate, junior Kristi Royer, joined Trenkle on the First Team, averaging 13.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. The two Polar Bears were joined by Eastern Connecticut's Allison Coleman, Norwich's Shevon Gibbons and Springfield's Beck Kanupka on New England's First Team.
