Farley Field House, the home of the Bowdoin
Indoor Track & Field teams, was built in 1987.
Designed
by a committee including Olympic marathon gold
medalist
(and Bowdoin alumnus) Joan Benoit Samuelson, it houses
a 200 meter, six-lane Rekortan polyurethane track, two
long and triple jump pits, two pole vault boxes, and a
high jump area. Bowdoin throwers enjoy two throwing
circles and a championship throwing net, where
athletes
practice shot put, javelin, discus, hammer, and weight
throwing. The facility has hosted the NCAA Division
III
Indoor Track & Field Championships on two occasions -
1989 and 1993 - and has hosted several regional
championships.
