Player Bio: Ross Jacobs

Year: 10
Hometown/School: Wilmette, Ill.

Sophomore Ross Jacobs from Wilmette, Illinois is a Political Philosophy major. A graduate of New Trier Township High School, Jacobs runs cross-country in the fall and then competes in the distances races indoors and outdoors. Jacobs? best in the 5k is 16:29 and 4:35 in the mile. Jacobs also runs the 10k and the steeplechase, arguable the most grueling race contested in the outdoor season.

Jacobs works at the Brunswick Teen Center and serves as a Bowdoin Outing Club trip leader. A quote that inspires Jacobs is the following by Roger Bannister: "We run, not because we think it is doing us good, but because we enjoy it and cannot help ourselves. The more restricted our society and work become, the more necessary it will be to find some outlet for this craving for freedom. No one can say, 'You must not run faster than this, or jump higher than that.' The human spirit is indomitable."
