Courtney started skiing in her senior year at John Bapst Memorial High School after her track coach, Jeff Libby the nordic ski coach at Bapst, suggested she should try it out. The sport provides her with an excellent opportunity to get a break from what would otherwise be three consecutive seasons of heavy impact from running. She competed for the Maine State team at Easterns, and prefers longer classic races to shorter skate competitions.
This will be Courtney's first year competing with the Bowdoin Nordic team. She taught Alpine skiing in high school and played tennis and soccer leading in to her career as a runner and skier. She runs cross country in the fall and outdoor track in the spring.
