Nat Herz began skiing in his Sophomore year at the Putney School in Putney VT. This summer he spent lots of training hours roller skiing, and going for runs up to 19 miles. He also completed several long hiking efforts with rocks and watermelons in his backpack including but not limited to: Mt. Abrahm, the Bigelows, Sugarloaf, and Katahdin. He takes his ski poles with him everywhere.
Outside of Bowdoin Nordic Nat plays Frisbee for the college's "A-Side" team, is the news editor for the Bowdoin Orient, member of the cycling club, and participates in the student co-op cooking, eating, and washing dishes.
His favorite female skier is Kate Crawford who "has a sparkling personality". Other inspirational ski figures include Joe Holland of the Putney school (coach and racer) who "finished 5th at Craftsbury," and Bill Koch because he "knew how to train hard and have fun and he went to the best high school in the country."
