Goalie Emileigh Mercer is from Newton, Massachusetts. Before Bowdoin, she played for her high school, Newton North. While attending Bowdoin, she was awarded Bowdoin Women's Hockey Founders Award. Emileigh's favorite hockey moment was when she was watched former teammate, Katie Forney, score a goal to tie Amherst 3-3. She then proceed to skate past their bench and "raise the roof" with her arms. After watching the clip approximately 95 times in film, and it will go down in history as one of the best goal celebrations, ever. Emileigh chose to come to Bowdoin for its sense of community, academic excellence and for the talented field and ice hockey teams. Mercer led the Polar Bear field hockey team to an NCAA Championship in 2007, leading Division III in goals-against-average and was named to the All-Tournament team.
