Gene Regulation - Jackman Developmental Biology Lab
It is thought that evolutionary change has taken place not only in the protein coding region of genes, but also in the nearby (cis) regulatory control regions as well. However, compared to protein coding regions, the ways that cis-regulatory regions function, and change in evolution, are not well understood. We are examining in detail the structure and function of a cis-regulatory region that controls gene expression during tooth development.
