Invitation to junior researchers
Through the generous support of NSF, we can help to fund a few junior researchers (graduate students, or recent PhDs) to attend the climate related minisymposia at the Joint Math Meetings. If you are a junior researcher in Mathematics, Statistics, Climate Modeling, Economics, Policy, Computer Science, or related field, excited by the possibilities these discussions offer, then please do join us!
To apply for funds
Send a brief e-mail to climatemath@bowdoin.edu explaining
- What aspect of the program most interests you
- Your background and area of research
- What stage of your career you are in (including your PhD date, or anticipated date)
- An estimate of your travel and registration costs
Deadline
The deadline for applying for funds is Tuesday December 4th. We will let you know whether your application is successful by December 8th, so that you can meet the conference pre-registration deadline of December 14th.
What we can fund
We will fund as many people as we can, at the following level
- $300 lodging (total). Note that the meeting has a roommate search board
- Registration fees at the preregistration rate (deadline Dec 14th)
- Up to $500 travel (with lower limits for shorter distances). Please note that if you are awarded NSF funds to cover air travel, you must use a U.S. carrier.
