Training

The Driver Safety Program consists of three (3) hours instruction and a thirty (30) minute commentary drive. Training is good for four (4) academic years. Training sessions are coordinated by the Fleet Scheduler and will be announced in the faculty/staff and student digests. If you have questions about the training or need to sign up for a course, please contact the Fleet Scheduler.

Bowdoin College is committed to provide a safe environment for our students, faculty, staff and guests. In order to facilitate additional safety in our vehicles we have implemented a program proven to reduce motor vehicle accidents.

The program is Safety First. Stickers have been placed on our vehicles which read, "Safety Is My Goal." Each vehicle has a unique identification to allow fellow drivers to phone in comments regarding the way the vehicle is being driven.

Reports from callers will be received by the Safety First Staff and will generate a driver report for the College. The report will indicate the nature of the call and will be directed to the Accident/Incident Review team. This will initiate contact with the driver to better understand the nature of the report.
