We are pleased to report that after implementing a new Motor Vehicle Use Policy in August 2003, the College has seen a notable decrease in the frequency and severity of vehicle accidents.
Facilities Management staff would like to thank the campus community for complying with the policy and related training. With participation from individual students, faculty, staff, and representatives from across campus, we were able to implement the new policy and improve it for this year.
To further enhance the safety of our drivers and passengers, the College will no longer permit the renting of 15-passenger vans by students, faculty, or staff. Any exception to this policy must be approved in writing by Ted Stam, Director of Facilities Operations and Maintenance (tstam@bowdoin.edu) or his designee, and his signature or that of his designee must be present on an Authorization to Drive form.
While all members of the Bowdoin Community are encouraged to read the policy in its entirety, a summary of the major features of the policy can be found at: http://www.bowdoin.edu/facilities/transportation/policy/summary.shtml. Any changes to this policy will be communicated via the digests and will be posted on this Web page. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the Fleet Scheduler, Jo Jo Craig at ccraig@bowdoin.edu or 725-3689. Again, thank you for your cooperation in making Bowdoin College drivers and passengers safe.
