When taking a trip on College business, consider the types of transportation available to you - renting a College fleet vehicle @ $0.225 per mile, using your personal vehicle @ $0.445 per mile, or renting a car from Enterprise @ $36 per day - and their relative costs. Fleet vehicles are usually the least expensive option and should be reserved, if available, through the Fleet Scheduler. For trips over 100 miles, it is less expensive to rent a car from Enterprise than to use your personal vehicle.
The College has maintained a corporate business travel agreement with Enterprise Car Rental since 1995. This agreement gives Bowdoin very competitive business travel rates at Enterprise Car Rental locations throughout New England, unlimited mileage in New England and saves time by billing the College directly. The nearest office is conveniently located at 166 Pleasant Street in Brunswick.
As a bonus to members of the College community, the reduced corporate rates are available to faculty, staff, and students age 21 and over for personal use. You simply need to show your Bowdoin I.D. If renting a vehicle for personal use, you should take the optional collision damage waiver, personal accident insurance, and must clearly state to the Enterprise rental agent that you are renting the car for personal business.
To rent a car for College business:
- Make a reservation online at http://www.enterprise.com/billboard/page.do?dspg=3025 or call the Brunswick office at 725-1344. If you call, tell the Enterprise representative that you want to rent a car for Bowdoin College business.
- Provide your name and, if applicable, the name of the person for whom you are making the arrangements. You will also need to provide your business and home phone numbers, the name of the department authorizing payment, and the account number.
- Please be aware that all drivers must be prepared to show a valid driver's license and that rentals are not made to drivers under the age of 21. If you are a repeat customer, your home phone number or driver's license number enable quick retrieval of your file.
- The Enterprise rates provided below include a $1,000 partial waiver for damage to rental vehicles. The College's automobile insurance policy provides Excess Liability Insurance for College-rented vehicles and Primary Insurance for physical damage to the rental vehicle. It is not necessary to purchase additional insurance coverage if renting a vehicle for College business. If renting a vehicle for personal use, you should consult with your insurance agent to determine what coverage is needed.

Terms and Conditions
- Renter must show Corporate Class or company identification. Bowdoin's Corporate Class customer number is G49051.
- Mileage is as follows:
- Daily rates include unlimited mileage in New England.
- Weekly rates include 1000 miles free per week.
- Additional mileage will be 20¢ per mile.
- Rates are valid at all New England locations.
- Renters will receive a 10% discount on rentals outside of New England.
- All renters and additional drivers must meet rental qualifications.
- Rates do not include local taxes or surcharges, optional Collision Damage Waiver, Personal Accident Insurance, Supplemental Liability Protection, or refueling charges.
- The College will be billed on a 24-hour billing cycle.
- Enterprise Rent-A-Car provides a free pick-up service. Enterprise will also provide a ride back to the college upon return of the rental car.
Special Features
- If a College renter picks up a rental vehicle before 5-6 PM the night before, Bowdoin will not be charged an additional day. There will, however, be an additional $10 charge.
- If a College renter picks up a rental vehicle on the weekend for business early Monday morning, Bowdoin will not be charged for both Saturday and Sunday. Enterprise will be charged for 1 day. We will start charges on Sunday morning for these renters.
