About Skating School

The Bowdoin College Skating School offers the Basic Skills Program designed by United States Figure Skating (USFS) for participants ages 3 to adult. Please download the Skating School brochure for more information about the classes we offer.

The entire Basic Skills program is designed to be the best beginning ice skating program. The program has nine separate sets of curriculum, including programs that focus on choreography, synchronized skating, and hockey. If you're looking to learn how to skate, the U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skills Program is your first step! 

All participants in the Skating School program are required to register with the USFS. There is an annual fee of $12.00, and the registration sheet is included with the Bowdoin College Skating School registration packet.

Who Can Attend

Skating School is open to everyone ages 3 and up! Bowdoin students, faculty, staff, and members of the community are welcome to attend.

When and Where

Please download the Saturdays, Fall '12 and Winter '13 full class schedule.  

All classes are offered on Saturday mornings at the Sidney J. Watson Ice Arena on the Bowdoin College campus.  Fall '12 Saturday classes will start on October 20th (the 'Late Starter' classes begin on November 10th) and end on December 22nd.  Winter '13 classes will begin on January 5th and conclude on March 9th.
