Call for Poster Submissions

We are currently accepting submissions for poster presentations.  Please submit abstracts as an attachment to an e-mail to Sam Putnam.  Your abstract should be no longer than 500 words.  In addition to the abstract itself, please include a separate document containing the title and ordered list of authors.  For each author, please provide their complete, formal name, affiliation, and e-mail address.

We are evaluating submissions on a rolling basis, e-mailing applicants with a decision within two weeks of receiving applications, and will continue to accept applications through September 15.

Preconference Activities

On Friday, October 8, a small number of preconference workshops will be held.  Anticipated topics include the following:

- Person-centered analytical approaches to temperament, led by Roy Martin.

- Clinical applications of temperament, led by Bill Carey and Sean McDevitt.

- Interpretation of cross-cultural temperament differences, led by Masha Gartstein and Charlie Super.
 
Prospective Program

- A symposium on parenting and home environment influences on temperament, organized by
David Bridgett.

- A symposium on non-clinical applications of temperament research, lead by Roy Martin.

- A symposium on cultural effects on temperament, co-organized by Masha Gartstein and Charlie Super.

- A moderated discussion of "What is Temperament?" lead by Rebecca Shiner.

- A keynote address, "The Temperament Threads:  Origins and Outcomes," by Jerome Kagan

- Symposia on multidisciplinary approaches to clinical issues, including work with infants, prevention/early intervention, pediatric practice, and temperament-psychopathology, co-organized by
Bill Carey, Sean McDevitt, and Barbara Medoff-Cooper.

- A poster session for any aspect of temperament research, theory, or application, organized by
Sam Putnam.

- A symposium on cognition-temperament links, co-organized by
Hedy Teglasi-Golubcow and Wally Dixon.

Hotel Accommodations

The Comfort Inn in Brunswick has a number of rooms on hold for this conference.  Attendees should mention the "Occasional Conference" name when booking rooms to receive a discounted rate for the rooms during the period of October 8 - 10, 2010.  The Inn will allocate the rooms on a first-come, first-assigned basis and the conference rate will remain in place through mid-September, 2010 or until all rooms are reserved, whichever comes first.  If anyone attending the conference would like to extend their stay beyond the dates above, the Comfort Inn staff could provide information on booking additional nights at the Inn.

Ground Transportation from Airport

Most conference attendees will use the Portland Jetport for air travel to Maine.  Ground transportation from the Jetport to Brunswick takes approximately 40 minutes and to expedite the process, we would recommend you book your ground transportation in advance.  Mermaid Transportation offers shuttle service from the Jetport to Brunswick and their staff can provide a detailed rate and schedule for any conference attendee.  Rental cars are available at the Jetport, please review the Jetport's Ground Tansportation information on specific options.
