Commencement 2008

Where may I take photographs?
There are photography areas clearly marked near the stage to the side of graduate seating. We understand that parents and other guests very much want to take photos of this special event, but we ask that you please show consideration for others when taking photographs or videotaping and that you respect any requests to move or sit down. Jostling for position and blocking the view of others during the exercises mar the day for everyone.

How do I get a copy of the photographs taken by the professional photographer?
A professional photographer from Chappell Studios will photograph each graduate receiving his or her diploma. You do not have to arrange for this in advance; proofs will be sent automatically (in approximately two weeks) to each student's home address.

How do I get a copy of the Commencement video?
Memories of the Commencement Exercises will be preserved for you in the 2008 Commencement DVD, including footage of the processional march through the Quad, segments of each speech delivered, close-up filming of each graduate receiving his or her diploma, and glimpses of families and friends in celebration after the exercises. An hour to ninety minutes in length, and set to music in parts, the video truly captures the essence of this very special occasion in a graduate's life.  The DVD will be available for purchase and an order form will be included in the parent mailing.

Where can I get film?
The Bowdoin Bookstore and the Bowdoin Express convenience store—both located in the David Saul Smith Union—sell film. The bookstore is open on Saturday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and the convenience store from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
