Bowdoin's 204th Commencement Exercises will be held Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. on the Terrace of the Walker Art Building.

Highlight of Commencement Weekend Events

Friday, May 22, 2009
Throughout the day

  • Academics Department Open Houses and Special Events
  • Open Houses at the College's museums, special exhibits and libraries
  • Special Events with Honorary Degree Recipients will take place between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
  • The afternoon Baccalaureate Ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m.  It will include a student address and a keynote address by an honorary degree recipient
  • Lobster Bake will take place at Farley Field House immediately following Baccalaureate (approx. 5:30 p.m.). Meal tickets are required; meal ticket order forms will be included in the parent mailing

Commencement Activities

  • 8:20 a.m. Seniors meet to check-in and form parade at Baxter House
  • 9:20 a.m. Seniors begin Commencement Processional March from sidewalk area in front of Baxter House
  • 10:00 a.m. The 204th Commencement Exercises taking place on the Terrace of the Walker Art Building. No tickets required.  You may bring as many guests as you wish. The ceremony will conclude around 12 noon
  • Commencement Luncheon (immediately following the ceremony)-  Join us for a special Commencement Luncheon for the Class of 2009 and their families, alumni, faculty, staff, and guests.  The luncheon will be held at Farley Field House. Meal tickets are required; meal ticket order forms will be included in the parent mailing
  • 6:00 p.m. College Housing closes for all students

A Commencement information packet with a complete schedule and meal ticket order forms will be mailed out to parents in early April.
