Bowdoin's 204th Commencement Exercises will be held Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. on the Terrace of the Walker Art Building.

Highlights of Commencement Weekend Events

Friday, May 22, 2009

  • Visit the Commencement Welcome Table in the Smith Union for the most up to date information
  • Academics Department Open Houses and Special Events
  • Open Houses at the College's museums, special exhibits and libraries
  • Special Events with Honorary Degree Recipients will take place between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
  • The afternoon Baccalaureate Ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the new Watson Arena where you will find plenty of parking. Kenneth Roth, executive director of Human Rights Watch, will present the keynote address titled "How Should We Right the Wrongs Committed in Fighting Terrorism?"
  • Immediately following Baccalaureate, join us for the Down East Lobster Bake located next to Watson Arena in the tent adjacent to Farley Field House. (Meal tickets are required)

Saturday, May 23, 2009

  • 8:20 a.m. Seniors meet to check-in and form parade at Baxter House
  • 9:20 a.m. Seniors begin Commencement Processional March from sidewalk area in front of Baxter House
  • 10:00 a.m. The 204th Commencement Exercises taking place on the Terrace of the Walker Art Building. No tickets required.  You may bring as many guests as you wish. The ceremony will conclude around 12 noon
  • 12:00 p.m. Commencement Luncheon for the Class of 2009 and their families, alumni, faculty, staff, and guests.  The luncheon will be held at Farley Field House. (Meal tickets are required)
  • 6:00 p.m. College Housing closes for all students
