Why do so many Americans believe that intelligent design is on a par as a theory with evolutionary theory? Why is climate skepticism and even the denial of anthropogenic climate change acceptable in many circles? What does this say about the status of science and reason in American culture today? Given this skepticism, what are our responsibilities as scientists and educators? Join us for an informal conversation with Elliott Sober. Dr. Sober is the Hans Reichenbach Professor and William Vilas Research Professor in the Department of Philosophy, University of Wisconsin. Dr.Sober's area of expertise is the philosophy of science.
Open to faculty, staff and students.
