At Bowdoin Dining Service we work hard to meet the needs of our students and complement and enhance their academic experience.   While we ordinarily don’t like to blow our own horn, we’re proud of our dining program and the recognition we’ve received from students and within the foodservice industry.

The Princeton Review college rankings are lists of "top 20" colleges that they compile and publish.  Based on student survey data, the rankings list topics covering eight general areas and include “Best Food”.  Bowdoin has always been at or near the top of the list. 

Restaurants & Institutions Magazine

Restaurants & Institutions Ivy Award

The Ivy Award is considered by most in the food service industry to be their most prestigious award in recognizing restaurants, hotels, and institutions for excellence in their field.  Recipients of this award are nominated by their Ivy award-winning peers and then voted on by the readership of R&I.

Bowdoin Dining received the award in 2007 and was profiled in the May 1 issue of Restaurants and Institutions Magazine. The article commends Bowdoin Dining for its local sourcing, fresh ingredients, global flavors, social responsibility and connecting with customers.  Other winners include the ‘21’ Club, The French Laundry, and Charlie Trotter’s.

HerCampus.comBowdoin Dining Service is rather well thought of in new media as well. is an online magazine for college women with both campus-specific and national content.  It recently named Bowdoin Dining Service at the top of their "10 Best College Dining Halls in America."  It is honors like this, emanating from our own students, that keep Dining Service working hard to meet and exceed their dining needs.

Food Service DirectorMary Lou Kennedy, Director of Dining and Bookstore Services, was selected as the foodservice director of the month in April 2009.

Whether it's taking care of others or taking care of business, Kennedy has had the opportunity to use her caregiving attitude to great effect during her 20 years as director of dining and bookstore services at 1,700-student Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine."
