Phi Beta Kappa - are you a member? / first meeting of the year (Karl Maria Fattig)
The Bowdoin chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha of Maine, meets three times a year to nominate members of the senior class for election to Phi Beta Kappa. This year's first meeting will take place at 9:00 am on Thursday, October 10, 2013, in the Hawthorne-Longfellow Library, Chandler Room - First Floor. We will also nominate the winner of the Goodwin Prize at this meeting. Our other two meetings will be held in late February and during Commencement Week.
Our invitation to you: All Bowdoin faculty and staff who have been elected members of Phi Beta Kappa (regardless of your "electing" chapter) are automatically "Members in Residence" of the Alpha of Maine chapter, are therefore eligible to participate in the meetings of the chapter and are urged to do so - please send me an email to get on our mailing list. Other faculty members are encouraged to communicate to me their comments about any students they deem to be particularly deserving of election to this honor society.
This is the only general notice this year that will go out to the entire faculty and staff. Future announcements of Phi Beta Kappa activities will be sent only to those on our mailing list. If you are a member of Phi Beta Kappa and are not yet on the mailing list (or do not know whether or not you are), and you would like to have your name added to it, do let me know.Karl Maria Fattig
