A New England beach is the setting for The Good Swimmer, a new musical centering around a family of lifeguards and their attempts to wrestle with heroism and defiance. It's 1963. A brother and two sisters watch the oceans for unusual activity and compete against each other in rescue contests. Using an on-stage band, the lyrics are derived from found text'---primarily The American Red Cross Life Saving and Water Safety Manual.
