Richard Johnston, who worked in Facilities Management for more than nine years, died Sunday, March 3, 2013, at the age of 61, after having been diagnosed with cancer in January.
Richard began working at the College as a Mechanical Services Technician in December 2003.
A retired U.S. Coast Guard Chief Engineer, Richard lived in Freeport and is survived by his wife of 28 years, Linda, their two grown sons, Tucker and Wade and his sisters, Donna and Deborah.
At his request, there will be no services at this time. A celebration of Richard's life will be held at a later date on Little Deer Isle, at his familyâ€™s summer home. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Brackett Funeral Home, Brunswick. Messages of condolence or fond memories of Richard may be expressed by visiting Brackett Funeral Home
Richard will certainly be missed by his many colleagues and friends in Facilities as well as departments across campus.
