Development of web resources synthesizing marine science/studies core curriculum and on-going research

Advisor: Michael Kolster

Ms. Marks' research is aimed at capturing the timeless beauty of the Maine coast from the perspectives of native Mainers who live by the coast, artists and writers who take inspiration from the coast, and the perspectives of the tourists who visit the area. This project will manifest itself in three media: photography, interviews, and journal entries. Ms. Marks will explore the coast through black and white photographs. The interviews that accompany the photographs will provide the viewer with a diversity of perspectives through which they may access and interpret the images. Ms. Marks' journal will document her summer's journey, her thoughts and reactions, the inspiration she finds along the way, and her own changing relationship with the coast.
