Summer Grants

The Fellowship Experience

The Thomas A. McKinley '06 Summer Entrepreneurial/Community Service Grants fund summer projects of two kinds:

Entrepreneurial endeavors or projects that demonstrate leadership and/or contribution to the extended Bowdoin community or society. (The projects may be defined very broadly and can range from the creation of a new symphony, development of a community outreach program, or research. The important factors are that the applicant has shown creativity, leadership, and initiative in developing the project and that the project has the likelihood of benefiting the larger community.)

Community service projects designed to have a strong impact on the larger community. (Projects may be of the applicant's own design, but should be conducted within an existing organization. A letter from the sponsoring organization confirming and supporting placement is required in the application. Students are expected to develop a detailed proposal for a specific public service project, and the project must be conducted in a region in the U.S. or abroad where the student did not grow up.)
