Alumni Career Services - Networking: Resources, Events and Groups

The Well-Connected Polar Bear.

NetworkingOne of your best sources for networking is fellow Bowdoin alumni — after all, they go on to become leaders in all walks of life. This is also one of the primary goals of the Bowdoin Career Advisory Network (BCAN). BCAN is made up of Bowdoin alumni who have volunteered to be available for other Bowdoin graduates and current Bowdoin students to share information and advice regarding their career path. Bowdoin provides a database that can be searched through Polarnet. We've also created two groups on the popular networking site, LinkedIn.com — the Bowdoin Alumni Group and BCAN. Please join.

Bowdoin Alumni Group on LinkedIn

Whether in person, on-line, or over the phone, connecting with other Bowdoin alumni is invaluable. And through our new LinkedIn group, it's easier than ever to find Bowdoin grads whose experience is relevant. It's a great way to keep in touch with or find long lost Bowdoin friends. Moreover, it's a vibrant professional community that could be the beginning of any number of career opportunities.

Bowdoin Connections Receptions

Every January, Bowdoin's Alumni Relations Office and Bowdoin Career Planning partner to host career networking events for alumni and our current students. The program has been growing since it's inception in 2007, and in 2009 we featured five cities and hosted 625 attendees. Visit this site in November 2009 for additional information. These events are valuable for students and also provide an easy way to connect with other Bowdoin alumni in a casual atmosphere.

January 14 - Boston

Career Networking Events

Are you looking to advance your career, keep your options open, or learn more about your industry or others? Bowdoin is pleased to announce that we are developing and will be promoting additional opportunities for our alumni to network and connect with fellow alumni and professionals in various locations throughout the country.

Industry Groups and Informal Networks

Bowdoin is piloting informal networks of Bowdoin alumni in specific fields to exchange ideas and discuss trends. For example, this year a Human Resources conference call took place on a quarterly basis.
