Brenda J. Myshrall

Ms. Myshrall graduated from Brunswick High School and has worked at Bowdoin College since August of 1966. For the past 11 years she has worked in the Counseling Service. Prior to that Ms. Myshrall worked in many departments on campus, including the Art Museum for 15 years. Her outside interests are many, but more importantly spending time with her family and friends and her dog, Cleo.

Bernie R. Hershberger, Ph.D., Licensed Psychologist

Dr. Hershberger went to Goshen College as an undergraduate and the Ohio State University for graduate school. He has worked at Boston University, University of Missouri, and Bowling Green State University before coming to Bowdoin College. Dr Hershberger also worked at the Jackson Brook Psychiatric Hospital Outpatient Department for six years immediately prior to working at Bowdoin College. Areas of interest include; treatment of anxiety; hypnosis; mind/body psychology; and Buddhist psychology.

Aileen H. Park, Ph.D., Licensed Psychologist

Dr. Park earned her masters and doctoral degrees in Counseling Psychology at Boston College. Before coming to Bowdoin, Dr. Park worked in the field of college mental health for 10 years, at schools such as Simmons College, Suffolk University, and Northeastern University, specializing in multicultural counseling, clinical supervision and training, and feminist/ psychodynamic therapy. Her particular areas of interest include identity exploration, depression and anxiety, relationship issues, and the intersection of race, gender, and class in human development.

Michael Arthur, M.S. LCPC

Mr. Arthur received his master's degree in Counseling from Plattsburgh State University of New York. Before coming to Bowdoin, he worked in the counseling service at Plattsburgh State as the Coordinator of Intercultural Counseling, with responsibility for creating a Center for Intercultural Counseling. He also worked at the Champlain Valley Physician's Hospital in the emergency room as a Crisis Clinician and in the mental health unit as a Primary Therapist. Mr. Arthur has taught as an Adjunct Professor in the Counselor Education Program at Plattsburgh State. During that time, he was also a Consultant with Behavioral Health Services North, where he facilitated groups for men who were domestic violence abusers. Finally, he is a certified mediator having trained with the Northern New York Centers for Conflict Resolution, Inc.

As a clinician, he is quite interested in multicultural issues in mental health and the contextual role of culture in meaning making. He is also keenly interested in how the counseling service interacts with, and is part of, the Bowdoin College Community.

Fleur Hopper, MSW, LMSW-CC

Fleur Hopper earned her M.S.W. from Boston College and her B.A. in Women’s Studies from Colby College. Her areas of interest include depression; anxiety; relationships; and gender, sexuality and multicultural issues. In addition to seeing students for individual counseling, Fleur also coordinates the Counseling Service's outreach efforts.

Blair McElroy, MSW, LCSW

Blair McElroy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a M.S.W. from Boston College and a B.A. in English literature from Mount Holyoke College. Ms. McElroy completed her graduate training at the Stone Center Counseling Service at Wellesley College, where she worked with college students, and was the recipient of a post-MSW Fellowship at Children's Hospital Boston in outpatient psychiatry, where she worked with children, adolescents, and families. Prior to coming to Bowdoin, Ms. McElroy was part of a private group therapy practice outside Boston, Massachusetts. Her experience includes working with children, adolescents, and adults with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and trauma. Her primary interests include prevention and treatment of anxiety and depression, bereavement and mind/body issues, biofeedback, and stress management.

Shelley Roseboro, M.Ed., LPC

Ms. Roseboro has worked as a Senior Staff Counselor and Multicultural Consultant at Bowdoin since 1995. A native Californian with degrees from UCLA and St. Lawrence University, her clinical areas of interest include racial identity development, depression, stress management, sexual assault, and feminist therapy.
