Instructions for Upgrading Bowdoin (owned) Computers to Firefox 3.5

This new web browser has better security including anti-phishing, spyware protection and increased compatibility with TimePro Web. If you share a computer with someone else, only one person needs to upgrade Firefox. Computers in a common area in your office will also need to be upgraded.  All computer kiosks and lab computers will be upgraded automatically.

  1. Close Firefox
  2. Click on the Start menu.
  3. Click on Control Panel.
  4. Click on Add or Remove Programs.
  5. Click on New Programs.
  6. Click on Mozilla Firefox 3.5.
  7. Click Install.
  8. Reboot your computer if asked.

I.T. will be "pushing" out the new version of Firefox to campus Macintosh computers. You will not need to do anything!

How to find which version of Firefox you have on your computer:

  • Windows XP: In Firefox, click on the Help Menu/About Mozilla Firefox
  • Macintosh OSX: In Firefox, click on the Firefox menu/About Mozilla Firefox
