Service Learning Programs tie community needs and academic scholarship in a way that allows students to apply knowledge gained through the curriculum while providing service to the community.
Since the fall of 2000, over 40 service learning courses in twelve departments have been developed and offered at Bowdoin College. Through these courses over 700 students have participated in service learning activities.
Service learning projects are carried out by Bowdoin College students in a variety of academic courses including Coastal Oceanography, Introduction to Social Research, Spanish Translation, and more!
At the end of each semester, students in service learning courses present their service learning projects in a community forum. The symposium is a great way for students to display what they have been working on all semester.
