Wellness at Bowdoin
We are excited to announce several changes to our fitness and wellness program for Students, Faculty and Staff. After reviewing class enrollment and gathering feedback from participants last spring, a committee involving Human Resources, Athletics, Student Affairs, the Treasurer’s Office and the Counseling Center, worked to develop a new and more flexible program to get and stay healthy.
- All Fitness and Wellness classes will be conducted free of charge.
- Fitness and Wellness classes will be available to Students, Faculty, Staff (benefits eligible staff to include spouses, domestic partners and dependents) and Bowdoin retirees.
- There will be no need to register in advance, however, participants will be asked to sign in with the class instructor. Attending a class is as flexible as your schedule – try classes that may be of interest without having to commit to a class for the full semester.
- We will continue to offer our most popular classes from last year, along with new class options.
Classes will resume on Monday, February 1, 2016.
Have you ever wondered what fitness equipment to use at the Buck Center and how?
Neil Willey, Head Coach of Strength and Conditioning, will be available on the second Tuesday of each month (February 9, March 8, April 12, May 10) to provide an overview of and orientation to the training equipment available at the Buck Center. In addition, Coach Willey will be available to provide basic information related to initiating a work-out program within the Buck Center. Topics for discussion are likely to include operating instructions and suggested workout progressions for treadmills and related cardio equipment, as well as methods for effective and safe use of assisted and free weight training equipment in the Buck Center. Please contact Coach Willey in advance of attending a session in order to ensure an efficient orientation and discussion experience (email@example.com).
