Fitness Wellness at Bowdoin


We are pleased to offer FREE fitness and wellness classes that educate, motivate and empower students, faculty and staff (benefits eligible staff to include spouses, domestic partners and dependents) to make healthy lifestyle choices in the areas of cardiovascular, strength, and mind/body. Goals include improved health and fitness, stress management, improved concentration and overall feeling of well-being. Drop-in classes allow you to be as flexible as your schedule, show up early to secure your spot. 

What’s New:

  • "Strong Women" Looking to start a weight training routine? Join Ida Messerman on Tuesday’s at noon in the weight room of Buck Center, she will get your heart rate up and your muscles strong! Space is limited to 15 per class. 
  • Matthew O’Donnell, Editor, Bowdoin Magazine got so hooked on Spinning through wellness classes last year with it’s fun, supportive, group atmosphere, that he became a certified Spinning instructor himself. Break a sweat and listen to great tunes on Thursday mornings at 6:45am.

Buck Fitness Center Orientation

Neil Willey, Head Coach of Strength and Conditioning, will be available on the first Tuesday of each month (February 7, March 7, April 4, and May 2) from 11:30am-12:30pm to provide an overview of and orientation to the training equipment available at Buck Fitness Center. Learn how to use the cardio equipment as well as methods for effective and safe use of assisted and free weight training equipment. Please contact Coach Willey in advance of attending a session in order to ensure an efficient orientation and discussion experience (
