Emergency Preparedness

All of Bowdoin's emergency plans have been developed with input from and in cooperation with healthcare, emergency management, public safety and government officials. The health emergency plan provides guidance and protocols covering many areas and contingencies, including but not limited to the following:

  • Risk assessment
  • Identification, training and management of essential personnel
  • Contact information and protocols for working with local, county and state emergency personnel, including medical professionals
  • Campus and off-campus facilities that can be used in specific emergencies
  • Infection control, including hygienic practices, awareness of high-risk factors, the availability and use of personal protective equipment, and vaccines
  • Travel advisories and restriction
  • Maintaining adequate supplies and provisions
  • Implementation of state and federal mandates
  • Quarantine and evacuation measures
  • Communication with the students, faculty, staff, parents and the public
  • Continuity of business operations
  • Recovery procedures

The College will provide updated information to the Bowdoin community if events warrant.
