A prolific, award-winning writer and noted social critic, Ms. Solnit is the author of twelve books, a contributing editor to Harper’s Magazine, a columnist for Orion and The Nation, and has written for numerous other publications, including the Los Angeles Times and the London Review of Books. Her writing explores the political dimensions of art and the environment, the artistic elements of nature and politics, and how these relationships shape human and natural communities over time and space. In a recent New York Times review of her latest book, A Paradise Built in Hell: The Extraordinary Communities that Arise in Disaster, Ms. Solnit is described as the “kind of rugged, off-road public intellectual America doesn’t produce often enough.”

Free and open to the public. No tickets required. Call 725-3257 for information.
