- Lab - Absorption spectra of food colorings, chromatography and spectra of Kool-aid and mouthwashes.

- Background on standard curves, Beer-Lambert law
- Lab - creating standard curves, identifying food dyes, forensic lab
|

Day 2
|
| Morning Session |

- Background - enzyme kinetics
- Lab - Protein stand curve and assay, determination of protein content in beverages, glucose standard curve.

| Afternoon Session |

|
- Lab - enzyme assays: glucose trinder, ONPG, Lactaid (b-galactosidase), Beano (a-galactosidase)

Day 3
|
| Morning Session |

- Background - photosynthesis and membrane structure
- Lab - Plant pigments: separation and identification, membrane structure (beets)
|

| Afternoon Session |

- Background - water quality
- Lab - water quality: phosphate and nitrate analysis, chlorine levels in swimming pools
|

Day 4
|
| Morning Session |

- Background - bacterial growth
- Lab - bacteria growth curved, set-up for lab experience with Upward Bound students
|

| Afternoon Session |

- Lab with Upward Bound students
|

Day 5
|
| Morning Session |

- Lab - complete bacteria growth experiment, perform other experiments of interest (sunscreen analysis, bleach kinetics, olive oil analysis, among others)

- Pack-up materials for transport home, evaluations
