Maine INBRE
The INBRE program of the National Institutes of Health will provide summer fellowships for four students to engage in faculty-mentored biomedical research during the summer of 2008. The summer fellowships are a part of the Maine INBRE program, which focuses on research in the general area of comparative functional genomics. Students will receive a stipend of $4000 and subsidized college housing to cover a ten week summer research project, as well as funds to cover research supplies. On campus housing is on a first come first served basis.
Interested students should discuss potential research projects with willing faculty sponsors in the biological sciences (Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience).
Application and additional information can be found at: Summer Research Opportunities
Applicants should submit a Bowdoin College Summer Fellowship Application to the Office of Student Fellowships and Research in 108 Banister by 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2008. The application consists of a cover page, a 2 page description of the research project, a 200-word abstract of the project, a copy of the transcript, a letter for support from the faculty sponsor, and a supplies budget.
During the summer, INBRE Fellows will participate in a series of informal research presentations. At the end of the summer, they will submit a summary of the completed project; they will then present their summer research in a poster session early in the fall semester.
