Mentor Program

Just as a personal athletic trainer might help evaluate fitness levels and develop a program to meet your personal goals, Peer Academic Mentors can help you identify your current academic strengths and weaknesses, set goals, develop strategies, and achieve your personal academic best.

A Mentor can meet with you just once to help you fine-tune your current strategies, or several times to develop and implement a more comprehensive plan for academic improvement.

Below are some of the areas with which Academic Mentors can help:

Study Skills and Academic Adjustment

  • Academic Adjustment to Bowdoin
  • Understanding and using available resources
  • Time Management
  • Organizational Skills
  • Procrastination
  • Memory
  • Reading
  • Getting papers started on time
  • Test-Taking

In addition, mentors can provide tutoring and/or support for specific courses.

Mentors are available in the Center for Learning and Teaching in Kanbar Hall on a walk-in basis Monday - Friday 10:00 am - 5:00 pm and evenings, Sunday-Thursday 7-10 pm, or by appointment.
