Current Baldwin Mentors

The Baldwin Program: Mentoring for Academic Development

Supporting academic achievement

The Baldwin Mentoring Program offers students skill development in executive functions such as:

  • Planning
  • Time Management
  • Goal Setting
  • Active Learning Strategies (and)
  • Reflection

through 1-1 relationships with a supportive and trained peer.

Academic Mentors may be particularly useful to students in balancing the academic and social-emotional demands of college life; hoping to find more effective approaches to understanding, learning, and remembering new material; overcoming procrastination; learning from and utilizing feedback, or simply achieving the self-structuring demanded by an independent course or honors project.

Meetings occur initially with Kathryn Byrnes, the Program Director and are followed by weekly meetings with a trained Peer Mentor.

To make an appointment, submit a confidential Academic Services Request (or drop into the Center for Learning and Teaching, Kanbar 102, and fill one out here). Kathryn Byrnes, Baldwin Program Director, will be in touch with you.

For more information, contact Kathryn Byrnes by email ( or phone (207-721-5035) or Tammis Donovan, Administrative Coordinator of the CLT, by email ( or phone (207-725-3006).
