The Baldwin Program for Academic Development provides a variety of resources and service for students interested in becoming more effective and efficient learners. Baldwin mentors are a crucial part of the Program, working one on one with students to help them understand learning strategies that work for each individual student. To help students acclimate to the academic rigor and expectation at the collegiate level, mentors use a number of resource to help students.
Besides an extensive library with books aimed to help students, the Program also trains its academic mentors to work with assistive technology such as the Kurzweil Educational Systems, an acclaimed software that offers reading assistance and speech recognition and Inspiration, a concept mapping software. These assistive technology are used to help students acheive academic success at Bowdoin.
