Northward: Peary’s 1908-09 Expedition

I had better wait

I informed Jack today that he was to go with me to Conger which pleased him very much.
Commander thinks I had better wait until Monday when Borup and I can start together, he to erect a memorial cross for Ross and cairn for Commander on which will be placed a frame containing the names of the members of the Expedition. He will also run into Clements Markham Inlet for musk-oxen and bring home if possible a young one, to be given to some museum in America.

Jack Barnes: MacMillan was accompanied on this trip to Fort Conger by Jack Barnes, a 24 yr. old sailor in the deck crew from St. John's Newfoundland.
