The Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum will be closed over the holiday season. The Museum will close to the public at 5 pm, Sunday December 21, 2013, and reopen at 10 AM on Tuesday January 2, 2014.
Donald MacMillan celebrated Christmas in 1921 aboard his schooner Bowdoin, frozen into to the ice on the southwest coast of Baffin Island. He had a small artificial Christmas tree with him, and here it is surrounded by dolls, candy, and other gifts in preparation for a party with local Inuit families.
The museum staff wishes you a safe and happy holiday season.
