Ship decked out today with all her colors in honor of Marie’s birth-day.
    It has cleared off into a beautiful day, one of the best.
    The Prospero came in today, the Captain coming on board to see the Commander.
    Received a telegram from the New York World yesterday offering us $500 for a story of our trip north. As the Commander’s story had gone in I telegraphed them too late.

Marie’s birthday: Sept. 12thwas the birthday of Robert Peary’s oldest child, Marie Peary.
