Bowdoin College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in pre-modern Chinese history (through the late imperial period). Joint appointment in the History Department and Asian Studies Program, beginning Fall 2009. In addition to teaching courses in their fields of specialization, candidates will be expected to offer courses and advise independent studies in modern Chinese history. 2/2 teaching load. Ph.D. preferred, but ABDs considered. Salary range competitive. We seek and expect the promise of excellence in teaching and scholarship.
