The German Department at Bowdoin College invites applications for an anticipated one-year, full-time position as Visiting Assistant Professor of German beginning fall 2009.  Strong commitment to teaching at all levels of German language, literature, and culture, and proven success as teacher of undergraduates are essential.  Specialty open with a preference for post-1945 and 21st century German-language literature and culture.  Near native fluency in German is required as well as excellent command of English for literature/culture courses in translation.  Teaching load: Two preparations per semester.  Ph.D. preferred, ABD considered.  Letter of application, C.V., and three letters of recommendation should be mailed to:
