The Bowdoin College Department of Theater and Dance invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professorship in Acting and Voice for the 2013-2014 academic year. This appointment is benefits-eligible, has a teaching load of four courses per year, and begins July 1, 2013. Applicants should have extensive professional acting and/or vocal coaching experience and be able to train and supervise undergraduate students in an intermediate acting course emphasizing voice and text; an advanced-level acting course on performing Shakespeare; and a beginning acting course focusing on the Stanislavsky system. Additional duties include attending meetings and performances, providing vocal coaching for department productions, and engaging with colleagues in a small, active department.
Requirements: MFA in Acting or other advanced degree, and additional teaching experience in an accepted voice methodology (Linklater, Lessac, Roy Hart). The successful candidate will also demonstrate a firm understanding and commitment to the role of the performing arts within a liberal arts education.
