The Department of Mathematics at Bowdoin College invites applications for a three-year Lecturer position starting Fall 2013, with the possibility of renewal for subsequent three-year terms. We desire to fill this position with someone who (1) is an exceptional teacher with obvious passion for mathematics and its applications, (2) has a strong professional focus on mathematical pedagogy, and (3) has a broad range of mathematical knowledge, allowing instruction of a diverse set of both pure and applied courses. The Lecturer will keep abreast of advances in mathematical pedagogy and use this expertise to support pedagogical innovation at Bowdoin. Applicants should appreciate the rich interplay of theoretical mathematics, applied mathematics, and statistics that is supported and encouraged by our department. The teaching load for this position is five courses per year, generally three calculus or introductory level courses and two intermediate or advanced courses. Ph.D. preferred, but the quality of the applicant is more important than the extent of his or her credentials.
Bowdoin College accepts only electronic submissions. Please visit http://www.MathJobs.org to submit a cover letter, AMS application cover sheet, resume, statement of professional interests, statement on teaching philosophy, and at least three letters of recommendation.
Review of applications will begin Monday, April 1, 2013, and will continue until the position is filled.
