Postdoctoral Fellow in Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics at Bowdoin College invites applications for a one-year Postdoctoral Fellow position starting Fall 2013, with the possibility of renewal for up to two additional years. Preference will be given to applicants whose professional interests lie in probability, statistics, or applied mathematics including mathematical biology, and who appreciate the rich interplay of theoretical mathematics, applied mathematics, and statistics supported and encouraged by our department. In addition, Bowdoin is building an environment in which students and faculty from across the disciplines can employ computational approaches to enrich their work; we therefore welcome applications from candidates who can contribute to this effort. Bowdoin values a strong commitment to research and a promise of successful scholarly engagement as well as a dedication to teaching excellence in a liberal arts environment. The teaching load is three courses per year. Ph.D. preferred, advanced ABDs considered.

Bowdoin College accepts only electronic submissions. Please visit http://www.MathJobs.org to submit a cover letter, AMS application cover sheet, resume, statement of research and/or professional activity plans, statement on teaching philosophy, and at least three letters of recommendation. Review of applications will begin Monday, February 25, 2013, and will continue until the position is filled.
