Essential Information

Welcome to the Bowdoin Faculty!

Once you’ve signed a faculty contract, you will be receiving mail and email from various offices at Bowdoin.  To keep your contact information current, please notify the Human Resources Office and your academic department coordinator with any updates or changes.

Your first responsibility is to complete employment and benefits paperwork in the Human Resources Office located at 16 Station Avenue, 2nd floor.  It is recommended that you make an appointment, but walk-ins are accepted.

For many initial questions, your academic department coordinator will be your first and most helpful resource.  For example, s/he can help you with office assignments, computer equipment, and book orders, and will point you in the right direction for obtaining your Employee ID, parking sticker, keys, and other essentials.  Many resources can also be found on the web.

The first day you are officially expected to be on campus is Wednesday, August 27, 2014 for the New Faculty Orientation, beginning at 8:45am in Torrey Barn at the Cram Alumni House, 83 Federal Street.  The details of these and other events for new faculty may be found at the right.

At the New Faculty Orientation, you will meet members of the Dean for Academic Affairs office and of the Dean of Student Affairs office.  During the Academic and College Resources Fair, you will meet representatives of the Registrar’s office, the Library, the Museum of Art, the Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum, Information Technology, the Center for Learning and Teaching, the Bookstore, Human Resources, the McKeen Center for Common Good, and the Digital and Computational Studies Initiative. Please also mark your calendar with the schedule of faculty meetings, beginning on Monday, September 8.
