This page explores two ideas: Stanley Elkins and his theories, and Nat Turner and his slave rebellions. Both of these subjects are among common knowledge. Most people know "Little Black Sambo" as the banned book for it's racist connotations. The book, unread by most, is actually about a little boy in India, not a slave stereotype. In fact, Elkins and the book both show a very different portrayal of the boy. The other topic discussed is slave rebellions, including Nat Turner's rebellion. Again, the name Nat Turner is very familiar to the general public, but the details of his rebellion are not as well known. This portion was compiled from Turner's own confessions and other reports. I aim for this page to shed new and more detailed information on people's common knowledge.
